Karamati
Empowering Female Domestic Workers in Morocco (Assignment)
The Karamati project (“my dignity” in Arabic) supports female domestic workers and young gardeners in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region of Morocco — some of the most vulnerable workers within the informal economy, many of whom face exploitation, precarity, and different forms of abuse.
Led by the Belgian NGO Echos Communication, the project supports and empowers women through awareness of their rights, training workshops, and local union networks, helping them build greater independence, defend their rights, and access safer and fairer employment conditions.
I visited the project in Morocco to create a photographic series and exhibition based on portraits and personal testimonies of the participants. A selection of photographs from the project is presented here.
